The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Core Outcome Set (PICU COS) is a minimum set of outcome domains that should be incorporated into clinical and research programs to evaluate outcomes of critically ill children and families. Broadly, the PICU COS domains are delineated as cognitive function, emotional function, overall health, and physical function. The PICU COS-Extended highlights the importance of family health and functioning after pediatric critical illness. The PICU COS was developed using a modified Delphi methodology with input from 251 participants representing researchers, clinicians, and families of PICU patients. It was developed with the support and expertise of the NICHD Collaborative Pediatric Critical Care Research Network (CPCCRN) and Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators (PALISI) POST-PICU Outcomes Investigators. PICU Core Outcome Measurement Set forthcoming.
